When you know something’s missing with your toddler’s development but you’re not sure what to do next, everything seems to freeze. Time, your plans, your family dinners out, your vacations — you.
to make sure Connecticut families feel seen, supported, and empowered on their journeys to helping their neurodivergent children. It’s ok to not have answers, as long as you know where and how to find them. And it all starts here.
Hi, I’m Alex – your parent advocate and the founder of Parent to Parent!
Not too long ago, I found myself in your shoes. I felt lost on an island, trying to navigate how to help my amazingly adorable but impulsive, non-verbal 2-year-old. He couldn’t sleep, and neither could my family. Wading through the confusion of available resources in the public and private sectors was incredibly lonely and isolating. I don’t want you to feel how I did in those moments.
The variation and differences in neurological structure and function in children as they develop at their own unique pace.
Embracing neurodiversity means celebrating these differences and fostering environments where all children can thrive according to their individual strengths and journeys.
I connected with Alex at a time when I was questioning some of my son's behavior and feeling very much alone. We had spoken to our pediatrician and been assured everything was fine, but I knew that something was going on that wasn't being addressed. Alex immediately shared some of her own personal experiences and was able to point me in the right direction in a clear, non-judgemental and optimistic way. She had a rolodex of local experts as well as advice that was easy to integrate into our daily lives. More importantly, I felt I had a mom who "got it" and was able to provide compassion and direction during a time that you feel you are just throwing things at the wall to see what fits. When speaking to other moms, I often cite Alex as someone who has been there and can help serve as a valuable resource during the isolating and frustrating journey of trying to best help your child.

After having two kids back to back, I was very quick to pick up on the fact that my second child wasn’t meeting milestones as quickly as my first. I felt extremely scared and did not know where to turn.
I knew that he needed extra support but I needed guidance on where to find the support. My fears were all assuaged after Alex started to guide us to the correct resources and talk me through my options. She held my hand the whole way. Three years later and my son is thriving after receiving the extra support we needed. Thank you, Alex, I don’t know what I would have done without you!!
