There’s an unspoken bond, an innate understanding that you, as a parent, share with your child. It's a profound connection that alerts you when the journey your child is on diverges from the “norm”. This was the path I found myself on with my young son.
From the time he was born, I knew something was not quite right. At 18 months, my son was non-verbal, impulsive, and restless. He also had trouble falling and staying asleep. As I tried to forge a path for him to flourish, I encountered roadblock after roadblock that might seem all too familiar to you — the endless search for advice, therapists, and educational plans. Trying to understand available resources in the public and private sectors for children with developmental delays.
My years-long journey to help my son left me feeling lonely, isolated, and overwhelmed, with no answers and nowhere to turn. I told myself once we got through it, I would do everything I could to make sure no other mom feels the way I did.
As a parental advocate for neurodivergent children in Connecticut aged 2-8, I’m committed to ensuring you never feel alone in your journey for help. Together, we’ll create an actionable plan with ongoing support to ensure you, your child, and your entire family have everything you need to smoothly navigate the obstacles that come your way.
When I first moved to the area, I was holding in a lot that my son didn’t seem to be hitting his milestones; all while the pediatrician and girlfriends told me he’ll talk when he’s ready. I can’t stress enough how important early intervention is and the enormous impacts of having the right therapists for your kids can help. When I connected with Alex she shared her own journey with her son, and made me feel way less alone and helped me hit the ground running with finding the right therapists, sensory gyms and sports leagues for my son. She was also able to help me with school contacts and ideas on services for in school. All of this made me feel so happy and connected to the community and I felt confident about my son being in the right programs. Anytime I asked her to meet me for coffee or send a text message she always responds in a timely fashion with yet another amazing idea/connection for our family. Everyone needs to advocate for their own child and their well-being; but you will absolutely get there faster by working with Alex.
